เทียบ

v. to compare;

to place alongside of.

ชิมเทียบ (to compare by tasting (as wines)), เทียบท่า (to come along side a wharf (as a ship), to approach a landing (as a small boat for passengers)), เทียบพระโอสถ (to prepare or compound a remedy for a royal patient), พูดเป็นคำเปรียบเทียบ (to make injurious comparisons or allusions (as is often done without mentioning any name)).

เรือเทียบอยู่ที่ท่า The ship is alongside the wharf.

เขาเลื่อนบันไดไปเทียบประตูเครื่องบิน They brought the ramp against the door of the airplane. ผมได้เทียบ (เทียบเคียง) ราคาดูแล้ว ปรากฏว่าไล่เลี่ยกัน I have compared the prices and found (that) they are more or less the same.
